We have been given the following information from Norfolk County Council: 5 May 2026

A140 Long Stratton, Carriageway Resurfacing
Road resurfacing works on the A140 near Long Stratton are due to start on Monday 18 May 2026. It is anticipated that these works will take 5 nights to complete, subject to suitable weather conditions. The work will see the worn-out road surface removed and replaced with a brand-new asphalt surface.
The works are to be completed between the Hempnall Roundabout and the roundabout north of the Long Stratton Bypass. They will be completed under a temporary road closure to maintain a safe working environment to protect the workforce and members of the public. The closure will be in place between the times of 20:00 and 06:00.
A fully signed diversion route will be in place throughout. Access to properties within the closure will be maintained however there may be delays while operatives make it safe for access. Noise will be kept to a minimum throughout the works.
A shuttle bus will be provided for services affected by the closures, with the bus number showing as 36 S. The bus will pick up passengers at the same time from the Castle Meadow/St Stephens as the 36B operates, then run non-stop to Tasburgh to allow further connections, before then operating via Tharston into Long Stratton (& the Pulhams on the relevant journeys). The same will apply in reverse.
The bus will offer ticket acceptance for First passengers on the 82s departing Norwich Bus Station at 20:25, 22:25 (& earlier from Prince of Wales Road/Castle Meadow) and from Long Stratton at 21:35 which will also operate via Tharston in both directions
The County Council thanks people for their patience while this surface improvement work is carried out.
The work which will cost £193,000 will be carried out by Norfolk County Council’s Infrastructure Department and their contractors.
